How do you switch to a bigger university after two years of attending a smaller community college??
I am in 12 grade and I plan to attend Lone Star Montgomery in the fall. I want to do two years at Lone Star and then move to Sam Houston State University to major in Animal Science and get my bachelors degree.

Hi - As someone who advised students for many years in academic affairs, here's a great plan of action. I would think about it like this: First, when you start at Lone Star Montgomery, tell your advisor right away that your goal is Sam Houston State Animal Science. That matters because SHSU’s Animal Science guide likely recommends specific courses. Second, keep checking your classes against SHSU’s transfer tools while you’re at Lone Star. SHSU provides both a Transfer Equivalency tool and program-specific transfer guides so students can see how courses may apply to the degree. Third, when you’re getting close to finishing at Lone Star, you would apply to SHSU as a transfer student. The key is making sure your first two years are planned around that goal from the beginning, instead of waiting until the end to figure it out. Go Bearkats!
