How do you figure out the right career path for yourself and what would you recommend doing early in college to explore different options without falling behind?
I'm a freshman in college and am about to finish my spring semester. I already feel like I'm running out of time to figure out my major and career goals. I don't know how I'm supposed to transfer from community college to a 4 year by the fall semester if I still have no clue what I want to do in my future.

My recommendation is to finish a two year degree and then go to a four year collage. This way you have completed something before jumping into the unknown. Honestly, the best way to figure out what you can do professionally is to work different jobs and see which ones, which environments, and which field feels right to you. I know this is the common answer is "try different jobs and see" but it really is the truth. This of course implies you should get just entry level jobs and focus your time and attention on those, but don't go that path. Try to get a job and if its tough, challenge yourself. See if you can make it working there. When you are tired of it apply to a better job, better meaning a higher level job that is better paying. Figure out how to make the most job impact with the least amount of experience. At this point in time do not worry about if you can do the job or if you get fired, just get in to the role and try it out. Get good at interviews, make connections at your jobs, and see where those people end up in a couple of years.
It's also implied with this answer "get a job, do well at it, stay no matter the cost to you, and figure out this specific trial job is your career". Don't do that either. Its better to figure out what you are bad at early because there will be no regret later in life you did not follow that path. Trust me, its better to know early on what you can't do, rather than find something you are good at right away. Its ok to be bad at something. Use your time when you are young to figure out what you are bad at. Having a two year degree is still worth something, falling into a role that you love right after will give better direction for a four year degree. If you find what you love, dig in! If you figure out one next step, take it, or use that time to plan your next step!

Thank you for your question. Firstly, you need to find out what career you have interest.
Below are my suggestions:
1. Think about what you have interest, eg your hobbies, favourite subjects, etc and identify the related careers
Eg if you like music, would you like to be a musician, singer, musical artist, music composer, music producer, etc
If you have interest in maths, would you like to be an accountant, engineer, banker, financial analyst, maths teacher, etc
2. Find out more on these careers and determine what you have interest
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers, Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counselor, your parents, etc.
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue
5. Select the relevant subjects as your major and minor in college
Hope this helps! Good luck!
May Almighty God bless you!
