I am passionate about eating disorders as I am currently undergoing recovery for mine. I would love to research more about the disparities in the demographics of anorexia specifically as a professional psychologist. However, I am having trouble surfing through literature and coming up with a concrete idea and research question. I would appreciate any tips for structuring a research project and even how to acquire a professional team of research assistants.

How should I go about joining a research group or project?
I'm about to go into my sophomore year at Penn State's main campus as a declared Computer Engineer and I really want to start researching; I also am obtaining a minor in Quantum Information Science and Engineering. I am most interested in the hardware side of computer engineering and want to learn more about photonics and its applicability to circuitry. Seeing as there are no professors researching that here, how should I go about starting a project for that or finding someone else who is interested?
How should I start to learn coding?
I am a high school senior planning on going to UIUC next year as a Computer Science + Linguistics major and have interest in the field of natural language processing, particularly research oriented roles. I don't have any coding experience right now, but I want to make sure I don't wait too long to start doing research and internships once I go to college. I assume that at least some coding experience is a prerequisite to almost all of those opportunities and thus want to do some self study over the summer. How should I start learning and what goals should I aim to accomplish over the summer? I think that I'm intelligent enough to handle fairly rigorous timelines and material (I've generally had very little trouble on school work thus far and got a 36 ACT without studying), but I still need to start from 0. My main goal is to prepare myself to be qualified to start undergrad research and take advantage of whatever other opportunities would help prepare me for a career or to try to get into a top PhD program after UIUC as early as I can, especially since I struggle with responsibility and don't want a time crunch in my later years.
How do I get involved in clinical research as an undergraduate?
I think I've found my dream job– maybe. For the past while I've been fixated on the role of a clinical research associate. This position appeals to me for a variety of reasons, such as the strong requirement for travel (which I love). The main issue is that I feel underprepared and don't know as much as I would like to about the clinical research community– most online CRA personalities I've found fixate more on the lifestyle aspect rather than the work itself. I am currently a first-year undergraduate pursuing a degree in biology, and would greatly appreciate any resources or suggested opportunities to gain a better understanding of this field. I know there are a variety of roles within clinical research, so I would also appreciate if anyone can suggest any similar jobs I might look into. Thank you!
Are two semesters of undergraduate research experience too little for PhD application? I missed out on a summer worth of research due to COVID. Do I still have a chance?
