It's fantastic that you want to join the cement trade! There's a Cement Masons Local 527 in St. Louis, which is part of the Operative Plasterers’ and Cement Masons’ International Association. Since you are 16, you have a clear path ahead: join the Job Corps now, get construction training, finish high school, turn 18, and then apply for an apprenticeship with Local 527. This leads to a paid apprenticeship and eventually becoming a cement mason, which is a wonderful career. The apprenticeship wage ranges from $26.29 to $39.43 per hour, with a journey-level wage of $43.81 per hour. I hope this helps, and remember, you can gain hands-on experience by working part-time in the field, as long as it fits within the hours allowed by your state. Also it is a great to speak to those who are in the field and you may be able to obtain a mentor or mentors that can offer different paths that will offer you options.
