How can I get more large/exotic animal experience?

Hello! I want to know if any veterinarians have ideas on how I could get large/exotic animal hours for my vet school applications? I have lots of experience with small animals. Thank you in advance!

Hi, I’m glad to hear you ask this question. Personally, I’d recommend shadowing a large animal vet and an exotic animal vet. It’s not common to find one vet who sees both. I was lucky enough to work for a married couple. She saw large animals and he treated exotics. They both treated companion animals. The handling protocols and treatment procedures are completely different for each species. I had beautiful years at this clinic and I learned so much. It’s the highest point in my career to date.
