Hi Audrey,

I did not go to any California schools, however I did experience the transfer credits challenge. First of all, it is great that you are away that some college credits do not move between schools. I didn't know that. The biggest challenge for me was actually going to school in different states. Single states usually the same subjects as a part of all the college programs. (For example, I live in Texas and Texas history is required at several schools.) With this in mind, I would have thought more about what my college plan is. I went to school in Oregon not knowing that I would move back home in Nevada and I would lose a lot of college credits. That would mean more money spent on subjects that I have already learned about. So when you go to a college, think of what it would take for you to stay at that school for the entire four years. I was accepted to an expensive school where I did not have four years worth of money to make sure that I would graduate from that school. If you think that you may not spend all your time in a single school, make sure to understand their credit transfer policy - both at your old school and the new school. There are schools that accept any credits no matter where they came from.
