What Surprised You About Transfer Credits and Costs?
What surprised you most about credits not transferring when going to UCLA or USC, and how did it affect your timeline? What financial challenges did you face, and how did you handle them?
USC Alumni, how did you afford/pay for USC?
I’ve heard both sides of the argument: avoiding significant debt for an undergraduate degree, but also the idea that attending your dream school can be worth it for the opportunities and connections. Many alumni say the investment paid off for them, which makes this decision harder. I was recently accepted into the USC Dornsife College to study political science on a pre-law track. USC has been my dream school for years. However, with the cost of attendance reaching around $106,000 per year, and coming from an upper-middle-class family, I did not receive enough financial aid to make it realistically affordable. I also did not receive any merit scholarships, which I had hoped for. This leaves me with a difficult question: is USC worth taking on significant financial burden? More specifically, is the political science/pre-law path there worth it if I plan to attend law school afterward?
Best CA colleges for pre-law/Political Science undergrad?
I’m looking to transfer to a 4-year university, after finishing community college for undergrad, so either a UC or CSU. I don’t want to attend a college that’ll leave me too in debt, coming from a low income background. I plan on working in college too, to earn some money. I’m really interested in Berkeley, or USC, but I fear those are a reach, and will cost too much, especially when law school is costly.
How do you start research or find a lab in college?
How do you start research in college? I'm struggling as a college junior because the labs are very niche or are not accepting students. I just need a starting point to be integrated into a lab before I can start my own research on neuroscience and psychology. I also have independent research lab for both my neuroscience major and my psychology major, so I need to find a lab soon as that is my responsibility. I just need to get in contact with someone. Thank you!
I'm a senior in high school and barely have any extracurricular activities and leadership positions and I want to go to USC, what do I do?
I have a 4.0 GPA and a 4.45 W GPA, however I never really was encouraged or was emphasized the amount of importance extracurricular activities have on a college application until the end of my junior year. My current activities only consist of co-founding a community service club at school with mid-popularity based on reading to children, p.e dance & a year of dance team, and link crew. However, compared to all the others in my grade with amazing test scores, internships, 100+ community service hours, and in honor societies, I feel as if I am not even good enough to apply to USC, which is a great school for my dream career. I'm not sure what to do.
What acivity is recommended to help enrich communication major internship resumes, or pharmacy undergraduate application activities?
I am currently enrolled in UCLA communication, but may want to apply to USC's undergraduate pharmacy program after graduation. I would like to start preparing in advance. I was wondering if there are any activities or volunteers that I can participate in as a UCLA junior communication student to enrich my resume for an internship? As a student interested in applying to the USC pharmacy program, what activities or volunteers can I participate in at LA to enrich my application at that time?
Which university is better USC or UCLA and what are the pros and cons of both?
At the moment the most appealing choices I have are USC and UCLA so I want to know which one is better and if that can't be determined what are the pros and cons of each weighed against each other. This is mainly for curiosity's sake but I am also genuinely interested in the matter. #university #higher-education #ucla #cons #pros #usc
Seriously Considering University of Southern California
Hi, I am a junior in high school and I have been looking at different colleges this past year. I found USC because I want to study Communications and Public Relations and USC is one of the suggestions if I want a degree in Communications. I have been researching the school and I really like it and I could see myself in Los Angeles and at the school. I am just a little hesitant about going to school in California because it is so far away from where I am from (Boston). I also know that it is not easy to get into USC and I was wondering if anyone who knows about the school or went there can share their experience or advice. #college #california #usc
