Hi Meriah!
This is a great question and an incredible career option.
I don't have experience in veterinary school or zoology as a career path but I know both are advanced higher education. You first get a bachelors degree in areas like general biology, chemistry, physics, or math. The next steps will depend on that you want to specialize in.
Here are some links I hope help you and your love of animals become the perfect career!

Zoology is a subset of biology and is not necessarily a pre-vet pathway. Some colleges have a zoology major, while some include it under the biology umbrella. In college zoology classes can be taken after passing the lower level biology classes. Getting a PhD in Zoology is an option after college.
To go to vet school, you need a college degree including the pre-vet curriculum. Good luck!

There aren't usually many requirements for acceptance into a Zoology program, except maybe GPA (but that would vary by college). Mostly just have to love animals and be dedicated to learning about and helping them!
