What classes are recommended when going into a history major/art History minor?

I'm looking into history majors and wanted some advice on what classes I should and should not invest in to stay on track.

TRAVIS’s Answer

First off, consider taking CLEP tests for as many basic courses as possible. Most only require 50% correct answers to get credit and cost less than $100 each. Meet regularly with your academic advisor so you know exactly the classes you need to be taking so you dont waste time or money. Each degree plan is different.

Jerry’s Answer

Depends on which institution of higher learning you attend. Some have a core of courses all students must take in their first two years. Therefore which institution you choose is important.

And only courses to "stay on track"? Again, you will have to take certain courses whether you like it or not. But practically any course will offer chance to use it for the things that are of particular interest to you. But it's up to the student to figure out just how each subject can be useful.
