A good source might be the alumni office of your college, where you could contact, meet, and talk to graduates of your school to see what advice and suggestions they might have. Also, you could locate and contact professional associations to which people working in your particular career area belong, so that you might be able to learn more from them. You can locate such professional associations by talking to the reference librarian at your local library or by contacting the professors and dean of your college.
