If someone had the skill to play professional Call of Duty©, how would one start off and gain popularity?

I wish to do something I love for a career. Many people have told me I should look into playing professionally.

There are a few very popular channels on youtube that feature people recording, playing, any reviewing video games. Perhaps you can start doing that. These channels earn a portion of the advertising revenue sold on their channel. You may also look into video game programming, marketing, design, etc.
