Plastics is an excellent field in which you can greatly improve patients' quality of life. There is great variety in the type of surgeries that you can perform, from reconstruction after a cancer removal to wound care to cosmetics.

Hi Danna! As a facial plastic surgeon, I certainly think it's fun! There's a ton of variety, and the combination of science and art makes every day interesting. Best of all, I get to work closely with people every day and make them happy! The best way to determine if YOU would enjoy the field at this stage is to ask a plastic surgeon if you may shadow her or him for a few days. This way you get a small taste for what it's like and can decide if the career fits your personality. One caveat is that is takes a long time to become a plastic surgeon, with the majority of people being over the age of 30 before they are done training (in the US).
