This depends on what you are looking for because there are many different opportunities out there. Full time position is a typical 40 hours a week and part time varies from 3 to 2 or even one day a week. It also depends on type of speciality. As an example, primary care nurse practitioners normally work 40 hours a week/full time.

Sarah’s Answer

It depends on your work setting and specialty. I work in an Urgent Care and my shifts are usually 10-11 hours a few days a week (varies each week). I have some friends who only work part time as NPs, and I actually see a lot of job openings for part time positions. NPs in the hospital usually work 12 hours shifts 3-4 days a week.
