How do you become a pediatric nurse?

I am a junior in High school and am thinking about becoming a pediatric nurse. I really enjoy working with kids, helping people, and just interacting with other people. I also really like science and learning about medicine. I want to know what high school classes could help me be prepared for college or tips for college. #pediatrics #medicine #nurse #registered-nurses

Hi Breann.

Great question. If you are looking to go into any kind of medical field, you are going to need lots of Math and Science. You are going to need the math to break down dosages and science for the anatomy and biology. You are going to need to know what chemicals go with what that will react with what in meds, also anatomy because of course medical necessity. Taking a second language class would not be such a bad idea either, especially in today's society. Once you get into colleges, you would go for nursing with your basics first then getting into core classes for the nursing degree. Unless it is a specialized concentration such as infectious disease or something like that that will require more training and schooling, then a normal nursing degree will get you into the field of peds.

Good luck on your journey.
