Karolyn’s Answer

There is always a step up from where you are in your career. Have you thought about writing your own music and using it in your therapy sessions? Try expanding your horizons by taking a class in writing music or take music lessons from a professional musician. I have several friends who started out just playing the piano and who now write and compose lyrics and music for themselves. I also write lyrics but I don't write music, I give my lyrics to people who write music and we both get creative rights on the finished product. My mother always taught me to step out on faith and learn to expand your horizons. If you have a gift or talent , don't be afraid to look deeper into yourself to expand that talent. And most important don't listen to people who try to discourage you from becoming the person you long to be.

Melanie’s Answer

Absolutely! I am Psychology Undergrad right now and this is my focus. To get into therapy and counseling, you first have to complete an undergrad in any topic, but Psychology would be useful as you will get the option to take four science classes and have the background in human psyche and development. A BA in Psychology offers classes like biological, cognitive, social, personality, and developmental psychology which are all vital to understanding humans are people. For science classes, taking classes such as biology, anatomy and physiology, neurobiology, and chemistry would be useful. A minor or double major in music would also be highly useful. Normally, you an work with a BA, but you could got further and pursue.a Masters or PhD or PsyD (if research is in your interests) as well!
