Satyanarayan’s Answer

To become a qualified ophthalmologist, one should complete his/her MBBS degree first and then go for post-graduation in Ophthalmology. The degrees are Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), Master of Surgery (M.S.), and Diploma in Ophthalmic Medicine and Surgery (DOMS). After completing the degree then start practicing. When you daily interact with people you will have more practical knowledge and experience. Be people-centric not money. Then you can be a good doctor.

Albert’s Answer

Hi Vidyalakshmi. There are two types of eye doctors. Depending on which one you would want to be will determine which route of education you take. An Ophthalmologist will typically get a undergraduate degree then spending the next 4 years in medical school followed by an additional couple of years focusing on Ophthalmology. An Optometrist will get an undergraduate degree followed by 4 years in Optometry school. To answer your question specifically, I would say that for one to be a good eye doctor that must be both knowledgeable and compassionate. Patient's will always appreciate an eye doctor who takes the time to not only educate them about their eye health, but by also showing that they care for their patient's.
