Hi Tulsi, are you looking to switch from pharmaceutical industry to psychology? There are lots of physician assistant and nurse practitioners who prescribe psychotropic medication/have backgrounds with mental health. If you're looking to enter more into psychology, most graduate programs in psychology will offer classes in psychopharmacology.
Thank you comment icon Hello, thanks for reply. Yes, I’m looking for something which is more towards psychology study. And I have heard about psychopharmacology course but I’m wondering is it going to involve experiments on animals? Because I don’t want to do any course which include animals testing. So, basically I’m looking for mainly PhD graduation program in any psychology major subject and/or psychopharmacology. Can u help me find out graduation programs for that area ? Tulsi

I think you might also be talking about Psychopharmacology or Pharmacology, which requires a doctorate degree. I suspect you could start with a Bachelor's degree in anything science-related such as pharmacy. Or, if psych is your true passion, perhaps start with Psychology and/or counseling.

Pharmacologists—-Study effects of drugs, gases, dusts, and other materials on tissue and physiological processes of animals and human beings. Standardize drug dosages and procedures for drug manufacture. Analyze food preservatives and colorings, vermin poisons, and other materials to determine toxic or nontoxic properties.

If you can tell me what you visualize yourself doing, your goal, perhaps I can help you more. :)

It sounds like you might consider a path into psychiatry? Which in itself is a post-graduate program of specialized medicine.

Another route might lead into Therapy. As you are in Illinois, have you considered The Chicago School of Professional Psychology?

Perhaps schedule an information session with their admission or career office for preliminary questions and insights.

Alternatively, perhaps going into lab research for a biotech/pharmaceutical organization might allow you to find a career path in psychiatric therapeutics?
