Kenneth’s Answer

The Medical field as with all fields are competitive. You need to set yourself up to have a competitive advantage. Get involved in volunteer opportunities that are related. Volunteer in a Nursing Home or Hospital. Obviously during these difficult times be safe. Wash your hands frequently, keep your distance from others and wear a mask. Another important thing is to be ready for the opportunity by getting the proper education. Always remember to go above and beyond what is asked of you. Have a Can Do attitude. A great skill you can learn is to listen to others and understand what they are saying or what they really want. If you are willing to put in the hours and keep a positive attitude you can accomplish any goals you set for yourself. Always be persistent and never give up. You may not land a position right away or may get rejected the first time. Swallow your pride and continue to shine until you land the position you want.

I am currently in a Leadership role with the Walt Disney Company and each and every day I love going to work to make a difference. Not only do I get the opportunity to impact family vacations for guests, I get to work with the great Cast Members who take pride in their roles in the Company.
All the best in your Career.

Richard’s Answer

You will need to get good grades in college in order to apply for medical school. At the medical school I attended, the average GPA is reported to be 3.85, so even one or two B's can hurt your chances of acceptance.

PAUL’s Answer

Hi. Short answer is yes its very competitive but don't allow that to stop you from pursing a career in medicine. With any professional career, competitiveness will always be there but the key is to set yourself apart form your "competitors" or colleagues (through hard work, diversifying your experience) and most importantly ensuring that medicine is something you really realy want. A career in medicine does come initially with a certain degree of sacrifice but if its your dream , work hard, ensure you have balance in your life and not just focus on academics and that will allow you to set yourself apart from the competition.
