Thank you comment icon Hi Camryn, I'm not a welder but do work in human resources. In addition to Brian's recommendation, a good website to checkout is Glassdoor.(https://www.glassdoor.com/Award/Best-Places-to-Work-LST_KQ0,19.htm). You can find a lot of information on companies and careers there. Best of luck! Derek Derek Oehler

Brian’s Answer

Camryn,

Without going into specifics about my salary, I can give you a roundabout answer. This information also can be found on the Department of Labor’s website.

So the roundabout answer. I live in NY where wages are higher and I am also in a union. Being a welder in the northeast you can earn anywheres from $90,000 - $150,000 per year. I have seen some welders earn more by being tied into a specialty company and they hit the nuclear energy plant circuits and can make a whole lot more. Hope this answers your question.
Thank you comment icon thanks bro Camryn

Andrew’s Answer

Welder positions start at $30,225 and experienced welders can make up to $48,750. An experienced specialized skilled welders can earn greater than $100k. Some welding jobs can be potentially risky. There are so many different welding jobs that there are multipaths to find a job that pays $100K. It takes years to gain experience and skills and work your way up the ladder.

Sachin’s Answer

Depends on the experience, skill and the location of the job. But in general welding is a very rewarding trade. In the O&G industry where I work for over 18 years the starting welder pay in 2020 in Texas was $35-45/hr. If you get a full time role with that starting pay you could be somewhere between $70-90K. The key to be successful as a welder is to continuously maintain your skill level and then build on it over the years.
