How does early acceptances work for university?

For early acceptances, is there a separate application? How do they work for Canadian universities? #university #high-school-classes #highschool

Hi Diljot!

I'm from the US and the way early acceptances work here is almost like regular admission but you find out a bit earlier. There are some restrictions on early acceptances, for example some schools require you to only apply early to their college (they restrict you just to them). Once you get accepted you have to take it in some cases (depends on school I believe).

Hi Dijot! I agree with the previous answer and I would also like to add that colleges have different deadline dates for early and regular applications. For example, usually early decision applications should be sent in earlier than regular decision applications; such as October 1st deadline for early decision and December 1st for regular decision-just an example. I also know that even though a student may not be accepted early decision, they shouldn't be scared, upset or defeated because those applicants will just be moved into the regular decision applicant pool. Sometimes there's too many early decision applicants and while many are qualified and competitive, there just is not enough room so some will be considered in the larger applicant pool. I would recommend to speak with your guidance counselor for more information as well as think why you would like to apply early decision and how that may benefit you- usually applicants use this process first for top choice schools.
