Build as much experience as you can volunteering or working for a homeless shelter while you're still in school. What new or innovative programs do you want to provide at your homeless shelter? Do you need to create your own or can you implement and scale these programs at existing shelters? Shadow an Executive Director of a homeless shelter to see what a day in their shoes looks like.
