I did a postgrad in marketing management and it really depends what your specialisation is! I am in lifecycle marketing, or email and push notifications. My day is as follows:
- starting at around 9/10 am (depending on how late my meetings run that day)
- checking emails and responding to various people while sipping tea or coffee
- monitoring marketing campaigns --> I send email campaigns, so I see how they performed, if our test hypothesis is correct and then log these results
- I attend meetings with the Creative Design team, Engineering teams and provide my advice and input on projects that we may launch
- Review my own work and others
- Create training materials and train other staff on new things I've learned
- and finally end the day by setting up my to do list for the next day

Marketing is a fun mix of art and science, we look at numbers but we also care alot about design and the way people will see our materials!

I work at a large technology company as the Head of Content Marketing (my team runs our social channels and blog, creates whitepapers, ebooks, reports, webinars, podcasts, demos, videos, etc. to capture and nurture leads to pass on to the sales team). My typical day varies quite a bit, but this kind of sums it up:
-Log on around 7:30am to have a 1:1 with a member of my team based in Europe who leads content strategy for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) to discuss ongoing projects, strategy shifts, etc.
-8:00-9:00am — Look at my list of priorities and figure out what I'll be able to tackle that day. Answer a few emails/Slack message.
-9:00-10:00am — Meet with the Integrated Marketing and Digital Marketing teams to discuss campaign objectives and project status. Talk through any blockers and figure out how to keep all projects on track.
-10:00-10:30am — 1:1 with the head of social and blog, who reports to me, to discuss an upcoming event that we are supporting through social and blog activities.
10:30am — Take a 15 minute walk to clear my head and get ready for the rest of the day.
10:45am — Respond to a few Slack messages
11:00am-12:00pm — Work on putting together our quarterly business review slide deck that my team will present to our stakeholders next week.
12:00-12:30pm — Lunch (I work from home, so I step away from my desk and eat at my dining room table.
12:30-1:00pm — Meet with the Web and Creative teams to discuss a new innovative content format type that we are looking to push live in just a few weeks.
1:00-2:00pm — Review the draft for a brand new research report that we are going to be publishing about trends shaping the upcoming year. Give feedback to the writer on how we can adjust the copy so that it's more in line with our brand messaging.
2:00-2:30pm — 1:1 with my manager to discuss current team issues, highlight wins, talk about upcoming priorities where I need their help.
2:30-3:00pm — Content Marketing team meeting to discuss new promotional strategies.
3:00-4:00pm — Meet with the localization team to identify top-performing content to translate.
4:00-4:30pm — Read Harvard Business Review article recommend to the Marketing org by the CMO.
4:30-5:00pm — Respond to a few more messages and plan for the next day.

Hello Kavion - I am in product and marketing management at a business-to-business company. Our marketing is really driven on how we go to market in each region with our customers. In some areas, we go through a distributor or channel partner. When this happens, we are marketing to that distributor as well as the end customer. They are an extension of our company and or brand to reach the customer. In other areas, we are direct sales to other businesses. In this case, we have technical sales engineers and they carry our message.
In an average day, this can result in:
- Tracking of campaigns we have planned and measuring results
- Follow-up on leads through salesforce.com (our CRM)
- Building new focused programs based on new product launches, customer market analysis, etc.
- Analyzing market trends and data
- Communicating with sales and distribution partners
- Visting or hosting customers
- Attending industry events and tradeshows (or having a booth)
- Speaking at events and/or webinars
It is busy and rewarding work to see the results from the work that you do.

Hi, Kavion
I work in Strategy in a marketing agency. There isn't a typical day for me. However, there are certain projects that I need to do when working on a project. These projects include:
- Define who will be using the product, understand their problems and goals
- Determine what features we build into a product - which ones to do first and which ones can wait
- Figure out whether we will earn enough money with the idea
- Understand whether the technology exists, whether it needs to be built or whether it needs to mature
- Test the initial idea with users
- Test several times to see if we've made the right improvements
- Develop the plan to communicate the idea to users
- Measure how effective we are with the product and communications, improve what we do

So I might spend several weeks developing a communications plan or jumping into marketing research to understand what customers want. Each day is different depending on where I am in developing the product or communications plan for the user.

For me, marketing is a very rewarding career because I get a chance to work on products that improve people's lives, which is very important to me.

- Starting the day with a Starbucks ☕️
- Reviewing my current and future projects to develop a plan for the day in order of priority 🧐
- Aligning with my key stakeholders, leaders, and team members to ensure that we are all taking proper steps towards successful delivery of a multimedia asset 🤝
- Developing processes and strategies for operational excellence, internal collaboration, and steps towards my end-of-year goals and metrics
- Taking a break for lunch 🍔
- Processing and analyzing reports, performance metrics, and customer/prospect feedback for areas of opportunity for improvement

Overall, a typical day isn't just about the tasks I complete, but more about making progress towards the end goal, which is to educate and inform our audience on topics and solutions available to them, and do it in a creative, engaging way.
