MANDY’s Answer

Noah,
I am not a physician, so I can't answer this question personally. However, I am close friends with and have known MANY physicians throughout my career.
Most of the physicians I know did not go into medicine for the money. Med school is not easy and most people graduate with a tremendous amount of debt. The majority of people I know went into medicine because of something they experienced growing up...a family member/friend will an illness, for example. Some, because they were inspired by medical professionals in their families. Depending on the type of medicine practiced, some are able to have a balanced work/home life...others, that can be very difficult.
All of that said if you have a desire to go into medicine and you truly want to help people, then do it! We need more great physicians as well as all members of the health care profession!
Best of luck!

Anca’s Answer

Hello Noah.

I am writing you from Spain. I am a radiologist and I decided to take part of the "fight the cancer" team. When I started this journey I wanted to help other people, I think that this is the mane reason to keep going. Today I have received a hug and some joy tears from a patient and this helps me fighting the stress, the fatigue, the debts and the constant study. If all the people in the world will help each other more, everything will change and this world will be a better one. This is a way to do that! It´s like an anonymous hero! You do a lot of good but just you´ll know that!

Hope that my thought helped you a little.

Best regards.

Melina’s Answer

Hi Noah.

My favorite part of being a doctor is seeing patients, diagnosing their conditions and helping them get better. For me there is tremendous satisfaction in seeing people improve. I enjoy teaching patients and helping them learn about ways to help their situation as well.
I do have to say that being a physician is very stressful. Having someone’s well-being in your hands is difficult sometimes.

Being a physician requires a lot of sacrifice but in the right conditions it is very rewarding.

I wish you all the best in your future.
