If I have a degree in fashion merchandising what kind of job does that allow me to have?

I am a senior in high school who is interested in fashion and becoming a big designer.

Hi Kya,
A fashion merchandiser is part of the merchandising team at a company that produces clothing. The merchandising team works hand in hand with the brand director, design team and sales dept. to determine the styles that will be sold for each season. They offer guidance to the design team as to what products are needed per sales stats, market research and feedback from the sales team and customers. They do not do creative work but they do offer suggestions to the design team sometimes based on their research. Merchandisers also help train the sales team on how to present new products. Hi Kya! There are so many options out there for you such as becoming a fashion consultant, visual merchandiser, fashion editor, fashion buyer, trends analyst, fashion design director and so much more. I would say really sit down and determine what exactly about fashion and design really makes you happy and if possible reach out to designers in your city and see if they need an assistant or someone to help out part time so you can see what the day to day is like.
