In my experience, the work environment is dependent on the place where you work not the job you have at that place of work. The company/organization culture depends on the people who lead that company/organization and the tone they set for their direct reports to follow and mimic, and then how well those direct reports flow that tone down and allow information, issues, ideas, etc. to flow up.

A lawyers workload and ability to balance work and life is dependent on the type of organization you are serving (e.g., state or local government, law firm, in-house counsel, non-profit, academia, etc.) and how well you are organized and handle stress. Some lawyers are able to work about nine hours/day and not work weekends. Other lawyers are working 10-11 hours/day and weekends. The most important part of becoming a lawyer is finding the right area of practice for you considering your skill set and interests.

Best of luck!

Eveliina’s Answer

The work environment varies greatly depending on the company or industry, the type of law you practice, and the country's work culture. It's important to figure out which area of law or industry interests you the most, and then find a role that suits you in that field. Consider if you prefer working in a small or large team, if you want to work internationally or locally, if you enjoy interacting with business clients or private individuals etc.
