Tanya’s Answer

Karen, every major hospital I have ever visited has a volunteer program. In Redwood, you can contact major hospitals and nursing homes to see what the qualifications and requirements are for their "Candy Striper" program. While you are volunteering, make sure that you get feedback from nurses about the plus and minuses of their profession. Also, find out which field of nursing has the most growth for the future.

Thank you comment icon When you sign up for volunteering at a hospital, try to sign up at a Children's Hospital or in the children's ward of a hospital. As with any field that is dominated by women, except for modeling, they typically will pay less than a male-dominated field such as IT, Math and Science. Tanya Martin
