To become a certified child life specialist, you need at least a bachelor's degree, though some choose to earn a master's degree. The good news is that your degree can be in any field. For example, my degree was in Human Development and Family Studies, but I've known certified child life specialists with degrees in Child Life and Psychology. Technically, your degree can be in any area. The most important step is to complete the ten required courses set by the Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP). Where I work, a majority of our CCLSs went to Mississippi State University or University of Memphis.
