1.) Gain Experience While at College - College offers numerous chances to participate in clubs, organizations, events, and workshops, all of which can help you discover more about yourself and improve your skills. Plus, these experiences look fantastic on your resume.

2.) Begin Networking - As you prepare to launch your career, you'll often hear about the importance of networking. This is because around 70% of job openings aren't advertised. Connecting with people in your major and professional groups is an excellent way to start building relationships. But don't forget, friends, family, and coworkers can also be part of your network.

3.) Explore the Job Market - During your research, pay attention to the typical skills and experiences mentioned in job listings, and tailor your resume to match these requirements.

4.) Stay Active - To land a job right after graduation, being proactive is crucial. Don't just sit back—apply to various positions, reach out to contacts in your network and on LinkedIn, and follow up on applications you haven't heard back from. Demonstrating interest and taking initiative shows hiring managers that you're eager to put your abilities to use.

5.) Maintain an Updated LinkedIn Profile - Many recruiters, about 72%, use LinkedIn for recruitment purposes. Keeping your LinkedIn profile current with your latest resume and experiences can signal to recruiters that you're open to job opportunities.

6.) Enroll in Online Courses - To enhance your skills beyond classroom learning, consider taking online courses. These can provide practical experience in your field and help you determine if it's the right career path for you.

7.) Apply Through Company Websites - To set yourself apart from other applicants and avoid getting lost in the crowd, apply directly on company websites instead of relying solely on large job boards. Some companies regularly update their websites with job openings and actively search for candidates. Applying this way can add a personal touch and demonstrate your genuine interest in working for them.

Hey Preston,

Here are some helpful suggestions to assist you in landing a job after graduation:

1. Online job platforms - Websites like Glassdoor, Indeed, and LinkedIn are excellent sources for discovering and applying to job openings. To boost your chances of securing an interview, I recommend connecting with people on LinkedIn or within your network and asking for a referral.

2. LinkedIn search - A highly effective method for finding job opportunities is by typing specific keywords into the LinkedIn search bar, such as "hiring for xxx role." This will often display posts from individuals who are actively hiring.

3. Networking - Make an effort to attend networking events, reach out to family and friends, and connect with others on platforms like LinkedIn to obtain referrals.

Wishing you the best of luck!

The first thing to do is start early. one of the best ways to gain experience in college is via internships in your chosen field. Even better if those are paid opportunities because well who doesn’t like compensation for their hard work?
Next I would say network at any employer events and attend every career fair they have on campus. Use your schools career services center to do mock interviews and tighten up your resume once a semester.

Lastly and MOST important go out online and search college hire programs within your desired field. Many companies have programs to hire college talent d specifically designed to meet the needs of a fresh college grad and integrate them into their company with the proper resources.

Hey Preston, that's an excellent question! First, I suggest setting up an Indeed Account and a LinkedIn profile at https://www.linkedin.com. Don't forget to check with your professor and college about internship openings. They're not just there to teach you, but also to assist you in finding jobs and opportunities. Make sure to ask questions and do your research. Plus, volunteering can be a fantastic way to gain experience and kick-start your career.

I hope this information is helpful!
Best wishes

Hi Preston,

Here are some helpful suggestions for discovering job openings and internships after graduating from college, several of which I've personally used:

1. Maintain a current LinkedIn profile. Make sure to update your profile with pertinent details about your desired career, such as previous experiences or specific skills.
2. Connect with your school's career services. They will offer guidance in finding a career path that aligns with your objectives.
3. Build connections! You can do this with friends, family, and professionals in your industry. A vast network can be beneficial in your job search now and in the future when assisting others. Take advantage of school networking events and job fairs to expand your connections. Depending on your major, there might be opportunities to meet professionals in your field of study.
4. Conduct personal research. This is crucial because you can discover numerous companies and organizations that may be seeking to hire college graduates, some of which might be particularly interesting to you!
