As early as possible! It's never bad to start early and researching a year ahead of time and finishing your essays before your penultimate year can make you less stressed and get you ahead of the curve.

Check the school's requirements. Sometimes they have early admission and you should try to take advantage of that. The earlier the better, as spots are limited and each school has limits.

Everyone usually applies in September, October, or November. Every college has a deadline, you can check on their websites. Some colleges release their essay prompts ahead of time, so I would suggest looking over those and writing a couple essays over the summer; so you are not stressed writing them when school starts.
