Hi Malia!

Great question! There are several ways to boost your odds of securing a spot at your dream college.

Primarily, your academic performance is a crucial consideration for colleges reviewing your applications, so strive to attain the best grades you can! In the same vein, aim for the highest SAT/ACT scores you can achieve. This can be accomplished through diligent studying, seeking help from tutors, or enrolling in prep courses.

Another effective strategy to enhance your chances of admission to your dream college is to engage in extracurricular activities. These activities can make your application more distinctive and appealing. Therefore, if your school offers any clubs, sports teams, or volunteer groups that pique your interest, I strongly encourage you to participate!

Best of luck!

Hello Malia! Some colleges have specific admission requirements, so I would recommend looking at them first and thinking about how you can meet those requirements. Here are some general things you can do that colleges like to see:

1. Try to challenge yourself! See if there are any higher-level classes, such as AP classes, that you can handle.

2. Get involved! Join clubs at your school and maybe even become an officer for that club! You could also join extracurricular activities, such as a sports team or band.

3. Gain experience! See if you can get a part-time job, an internship/shadowing opportunity, or a volunteer position.

Try to find opportunities that best align with your interests and will make your high school experience more fulfilling. Good luck!

What an awesome question! It's clear that you're really thinking about your education beyond high school. First, figure out the degree you want to pursue and look for universities that offer it. Here's some friendly advice:

1. Investigate the colleges you've shortlisted and learn about their enrollment criteria.
2. Signing up during the summer might improve your chances of getting in.
3. If a university hosts an event to share information about itself, make sure to attend.
4. Always work hard to meet the academic requirements of the universities you're interested in.
5. Participate in your school's clubs to show your involvement and dedication.

Stacy-Love’s Answer

Hi, great question!

I suggest taking part in any and all activities that spark your interest. Being involved in your school's events and opportunities that keep you engaged in yourself and your classmates! For example, participating in sporting activities, clubs and anything extra-curricular that you will be passionate about to bring to light in your college applications. Stay focused in school and keep your grades up, but also make sure your interests align with your dream school so that you will fit into not only what they are looking for out of you, but what you are looking for in that school!
