Hello, Gursel ! I find your line of work very fascinating as I love the history and evolution of words and language too. I do not meet many, if at all, Philologists, however, I am happy to support your pursuit of this amazing field of work.

To begin with, this field of work has a very slow growth rate. It is because of technology being used now and other areas of research are starting to do it themselves. Regardless, the plan that may be beneficial to you may be to start your own business and create a website for yourself. Another avenue would be to apply for positions at a library or university. You could also choose to be a language teacher or translator. There are jobs in social media management, however, I have never seen one requiring a degree in philology. That's why it may be good to consider other options such as teaching.

Creating your own website would give you the opportunity to let people know that you are out there, available for them and you would have the luxury of working for yourself and managing your own website. Since the job market for this profession is slim, I think creating your own business may be a good bet. This is just a hunch, but you also may want to visit museums and find out if they might need your services.

In any event, do not give up. You have a special gift and the knowledge you have for this type of work is rare and very much appreciated. It may take a bit of time for something to happen, but each step will bring you closer to what you are seeking.

I wish you all the best in all you do and I do hope that my suggestions have helped.

Hi Gürsel, I admire your switch from Electrical Electronics to Philology! I'm curious about what you enjoy most about being a Social Media Manager. Are you more interested in content creation, distribution, strategy, or analytics?

I've worked in this field since its early days and have seen it become more professional (sometimes I feel very old, when I remember how Social Media started). Curiosity and a love for learning helped me keep up with different platforms and formats. Have you thought about roles where you can use your experience (of either Philology or Electronics...or anything else)? Have you interned in a position involving social media? Can you see yourself doing this long-term?

I hope these questions help you find the right job path. Best of luck, Catie
