What advice do you have for attending a conference?
I'm attending a media & entertainment conference this upcoming summer. It will be my second time attending this conference, and I think I did okay last time. I even made business cards, but they seemed pretty outdated since people mainly shared their LinkedIn profiles. I'm not looking for work right now; this is more of a learning/networking experience for me. So, outside of dressing professionally and learning to network, what advice do you have for preparing for a conference, and what should I do during it?
Are there any online certifications or courses that would benefit me if I am interested in working within marketing and hopefully in the entertainment business?
I am a college student who has always thought it would be fun to work within the entertainment business whether for music like Spotify, Republic Records or Warner Brothers, Netflix etc. I do not have much experience or knowledge on how to learn about this career.
how to get into clowning ?
This honestly might seem like a joke but I've fallen in love with the idea of dressing up to entertain people but I have no clue where to start other than a small local business. just to clarify, I don't think I would be a circus clown, I would just want to be like a party clown or someone higher in individual events

What’s one piece of advice you’d give your younger job-seeking self?
If you could talk to yourself just graduating, what would you tell yourself about jobs, career, or life after school? I don't have a job offer yet and this is what I have been telling myself since I graduated, to stop tying my worth to job offers. That it’s okay to take detours. That everyone looks put-together online, but most are just figuring things out too. And most importantly, jobs don’t give you value, you bring value to jobs. What about you? High school senior split between film school or business school: need advice?
Hey everyone, I’m really at a crossroads in my life and need some guidance from people who may have experience or insights into my situation. I’m deciding between two universities for my college education, and it’s a huge decision for me. Here’s a little about myself and my career aspirations, followed by the two schools I’m considering and why it’s such a tough choice. I have a strong passion for the entertainment industry and the intersection of business and media. I’ve been heavily involved in all aspects of film production, photography, videography, etc. several years. This past year I've also been building my own brand and website for photography, where I’ve also worked on various videography projects. My goal is to pursue a career that combines business management with creative media, particularly in the entertainment field. I want to lead creative projects, manage teams, and possibly even develop my own production business or do something in entrepreneurship. The two schools I’m considering are CU Boulder and Biola University, and they each offer a slightly different approach to achieving my goals. CU Boulder Major: Business (management or marketing) Minor: Media production (school of media and communications) Pros: CU Boulder offers a prestigious business program through the Leeds School of Business, which is highly ranked and provides solid fundamentals in management, marketing, and finance. The flexibility of pairing a business major with a media-related minor is appealing because it would allow me to maintain a strong business foundation while exploring creative media. CU Boulder is also a large, research-intensive university with a broad alumni network and plenty of opportunities to network with professionals in a variety of fields. CU is also well-known for its vibrant campus culture and I'd feel like I'd really be getting more of the "college experience" there Cons: The business and creative tracks seem to be somewhat separate, which could make it harder to integrate the two areas. I’d need to take more initiative to blend the creative and business sides of my education, which could be difficult given the large size of the school and the general focus on traditional business education. The Boulder area also isn't amazing for the industry I want to go into, and I feel it'd be harder for me to make connections and pursue relevant internships. Biola University Major: Media (Entertainment Business Concentration) Minor: Business Administration Pros: Biola offers a much more specialized and integrated approach, with a specific concentration on entertainment business. Their curriculum blends both creative and business aspects, covering everything from film production and screenwriting to entertainment financing and media law. This direct focus on the entertainment industry is exactly what I’m looking for, and Biola is also currently constructing a brand new state of the art facility for their media school. The small class sizes at Biola also mean I’d get more personalized attention from faculty and have closer connections with industry professionals. Plus, the industry proximity in LA is huge for building a career. Cons: Biola’s network is smaller than CU Boulder’s, and while it’s more industry-specific, it might be more limiting if I want to explore broader career options in the future. It’s also a much smaller university (my Dad calls it a no name school), which might not have the same range of extracurriculars or resources in other fields like business. I also don't love Biola's requirement of having to take a lot of required Bible classes, and the campus culture seems to be welcoming but also very restrictive and ultra-Christian. I don't want to feel like I'm missing out on the larger four year university experience. Biggest Questions I’m Facing: Do I want a broader, flexible business education, or do I want a more niche, entertainment-specific education? How much do the alumni networks and industry connections of each school matter for my future career? How important is it for me to have a more personalized, smaller school experience versus a larger, research-driven university? Given that I already have a lot of experience in media production, should I prioritize a school that gives me more space to develop business skills or one that focuses more on the entertainment industry specifically? I would really appreciate any feedback, whether it's based on your own experience or general thoughts on the pros and cons of each school. Any help in making this important decision would mean a lot, I'm still very split and have to decide soon. Thanks so much!
How to network successfully in sports photography and sports graphics?
How do network in the field of graphic design and photography? I always feel strange and awkward trying to talk to other designers and photographers because I feel like I am interrupting them. I want to stand out to people and have them think of me for internships and job shadowing, but I am lost in how to do that. But I know the only way to succeed in that field is by creating those relationships to get my dream jobs like taking photos and making graphics for a professional sports team, but how do I do it?

I will soon be entering film school for producing, and I'm very excited. However, the film/tv industry is both gig-based and known for paying little during the beginning of a career. How to become a working actor? And how to get an agent
Since 2022 I have been taking acting classes and I am looking forward to continue taking them in 2025. I have profiles on Backstage, Actors Access and check Playbill everyday. I booked some jobs there. I know that getting an agent doesn't guarantee getting acting jobs right away, and that this career path requires a lot of patience. I feel ready to find a show-biz partner to work with, but I don't know how. Would acting showcases be a great option? Or submit on their websites? I saw several actors being able to book job without the need of an agent, is it through the casting websites that they do that? Or networking?

How Can I Improve my YouTube Channel?
I know this isn't related to actual jobs made by employers since this is more of a freelance thing, but I think it's best if I ask anyway and see if anyone has any useful information. I run a YouTube channel called MGLR, and I've been wanting to improve on my channel to make sure I can make the most out of my content. However, because of certain issues, I can't really make any videos recently, so I'm not getting the growth that I need. I know the basics of running a YouTube channel and creating more gaming videos, such as: - Researching the YouTube algorithm - Studying what other, more popular YouTubers do and take inspiration from them - Studying the current trends and see if I can follow those gaming trends - Creating a consistent schedule to keep my viewers on my channel - I use OBS Studio to record my videos, Audacity/Reaper to record the voice/audio and make sure it sounds high-quality - I edit my videos with Shotcut for more basic edits, but I sometimes use DaVinci Resolve in case I need to make much more advanced edits - I use Photopea to create my thumbnails for free, and I've used techniques that others use to entice viewers to clicking - Reaching out to the community and keeping up to date on the reviews of my channel However, because of other complications, I sometimes won't be able to do these things. I'll do my best if I can somehow get it done, but the schedule is what I'm struggling with. But that's not what I'm asking as of right now. What I want to know is if there are any other techniques that I do not yet know of that I can use to improve my YouTube channel. If there are any, let me know. I'd love to hear it. Thanks! Logan X.
