Hello, Divonna !

Fashion is a very creative, always changing and a most exciting career ! I would like to advise you on how to get into fashion school. Although fashion schools do have a low acceptance rate, it's not impossible !

First, decide upon a fashion school that you want to go to. You will have to send your school transcripts or documentation that shows a GED. Of course, also complete the school's application. There is an application fee that you'd have to pay which most times is not refundable. You also have to write an essay stating why you chose that school and why you would be a good fit there. Also something about your style of fashion that you work with.

When it comes to the SAT and the ACT scores, some fashion schools do not require them. If they do, the acceptable scores for SAT is between 560 and 1060. The ACT score should be 21 or higher to be accepted. Letters of recommendation are not required but they could make you stand out and be in your favor, so get some people who know you, know your passion and your work to write the letters which you include in your application package. Obtain as many as you would like.

The next part of the package is the portfolio. Make sure it consists of all work done by and created by you only. Follow the guidelines for the portfolio as written in the school's admission instructions.

I do hope this helps in knowing what goes into applying for fashion school. I wish you all the best in applying and for a very successful career !

Hello there, from a former fashion industry insider! I began my journey by exploring fashion programs at nearby community colleges. It was a fantastic starting point for me to understand what design school would entail and what the industry might expect from me. I was proud to earn a certificate from the design program at my local community college. From there, I was fortunate to secure an internship with a local fashion designer. Eventually, I launched my own clothing and jewelry line, which achieved moderate success. Over time, my career in fashion design morphed into graphic design, and now I work in technology design. The fashion industry is a vibrant, creative space with a multitude of skills that can be applied across various sectors. Design is just one facet of fashion - you could also become a stylist, a buyer, and so much more. There's a wealth of opportunities within fashion for you to explore and thrive in. Wishing you all the best as you embark on your exciting journey into the world of fashion!
