What is the typical career path of a nurse practitioner?
In order to eventually become a nurse practitioner, you will need to first become a registered nurse. This will entail completing the required undergraduate education, passing the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN), and applying for licensure through the state in which you wish to practice

You would need to get at least a bachelor of science in nursing prior to applying for a masters or doctorate of nursing practice, which is where you would choose what type of Nurse Practitioner you would like to become ( Family, Pediatrics, Acute Care, Midwife, etc).
