Hi Levi,

I'm not a mechanic, but my close friend is one. There are different types of mechanics. Some work for a dealership or shop and will have more set schedules, whereas some decide to be an independent, mobile mechanic and is their own boss! The mobile mechanics will set their own rates and hours and which jobs they want to take one. After that, it becomes a matter of how long it takes for you to get the job done.

Eric’s Answer

Hey Levi,

Mechanics work an average of 40-48 hours weekly.

Most mechanics work the standard full-time hours per week, which is forty. They may work longer hours during busier times or if they have a specific deadline that they are working towards reaching. Like fixing someones car by a specific date.

I used to work in a bodyshop for a car dealership and the mechanics there were very hard working but it can pay well! If you're passionate about cars, its a great way to enjoy them while also seeing how they work.

Keep it up!
