Good Day Alicia. You like to do make up. A Beauty College isn’t necessary to become a makeup artist. Cosmetology is a licensed profession, whereas a makeup artist is not.
There are several makeup academy’s you can attend at leisure and you receive cert.s of completion that add to your credential, but they don’t require licensing as a cosmetologist would.
As a cosmetologist, I studied makeup application as part of the course. Upon completion I was trained as a hairdresser, esthetician and manicurist.
Estheticians work with the skin and its health and maintenance. Makeup was a part of that area of study.
I’d suggest trying a couple Makeup Academies such as Michael Vincent in LA,
Also watch for ISSE shows )trade shows). They have many venders that offer sign ups for there classes there too

I would be happy to give you some advice on how to become a Makeup Artist as a career. You've chosen such a fun and versatile endeavor !
Since you want to go to college to get a degree as you've mentioned, that would greatly benefit you in a lot of ways, especially if you want to work for yourself with your own service business as well as being competitive in the labor market. You can consider going to a community college as you did mention Cosmetology that offers that or you could go to a specific Cosmetology private school for it. Cosmetology is geared to learning about hair, though, not makeup, so you'd be spending all the time learning about hair. You can learn makeup on the side online or at Esthetician school. That would focus on makeup. If you do go to college for a Bachelors degree, you could consider majoring in a performing art with the emphasis on the technical end and minoring in Business, or vice versa. Make up classes are usually offered at theatre departments and you would learn some tips that you can use for non-theatrical make up, too.
If you want to only do makeup and not hair, you can attend Esthetician School where the focus is on skin and makeup. I have left a link for you below of a list of the schools in your state. It's never too early to explore the schools and compare what they offer.
In the meantime, you will want to do as much makeup as possible for people, even if you don't get paid for it. Experience will be very important and you should photograph any results of your work and start a portfolio. Being able to do a variety of types of makeup would be in your favor. Think about casual, fashion, theatrical, high definition, corrective, time period, etc. The more versatile you can be the more opportunities will be presented to you.
I would also advise that you start attending esthetician conferences and I have left a list of them for you below. Read the website and start attending these when you are able to do so.
Another college option would be to go for a college degree in Education after you've finished esthetician school and than obtain your teaching certificate. This way you will be qualified if an opportunity to teach comes your way later on.
