Hello Peace,

It's fantastic to see you planning for your future career at such an early stage. In addition to the advice given above, consider what activities bring you joy in your spare time and try to find a job that aligns with those interests. Remember, there's no pressure to stick to one path forever. Since you're still young, it's natural for your hobbies and interests to evolve over time, and your career might shift along with them. The most important thing is to ensure that whatever you do, it brings you happiness. That's the ultimate goal.

Dear Peace,

Actionable Steps:

1. Uncover Your Interests and Passions: To carve a fitting career path, especially as early as the 7th grade, it's crucial to delve into your interests and passions. Reflect on the subjects that fascinate you in school, the activities where you shine, and the hobbies or topics you naturally gravitate towards. This introspection can guide you towards potential careers that resonate with your strengths and preferences.

2. Investigate Various Career Paths: With a clearer understanding of your interests, it's vital to explore diverse career paths that align with them. Delve into different professions, sectors, and job roles to grasp what each involves. Utilize online resources, career assessment tools, informational interviews with professionals from various fields, and career expos to gather insights about potential career trajectories.

3. Establish Goals and Develop a Strategy: Once you've explored your interests and researched various careers, the subsequent step is to set objectives and devise a plan to reach them. Visualize your future self and the milestones you need to achieve to get there. Consider aspects such as educational prerequisites, skill enhancement, internships or volunteering opportunities, and networking within your chosen industry.

4. Seek Out Mentorship and Advice: A mentor can be instrumental in guiding you along your career journey. Consider approaching teachers, relatives, or professionals in fields that intrigue you for guidance and advice. A mentor can offer invaluable insights, support, and motivation as you strive to attain your career objectives.

5. Pursue Ongoing Education and Skill Enhancement: As you advance through school and enter the workforce, it's crucial to focus on continuous learning and skill enhancement. Remain inquisitive, be receptive to acquiring new knowledge, and chase opportunities for growth and development. This could involve taking advanced courses in subjects that captivate you, engaging in extracurricular activities that foster valuable skills, or pursuing internships or part-time jobs in your chosen career field.

6. Network and Forge Connections: Cultivating a robust professional network can significantly influence your career success. Participate in networking events, connect with professionals on platforms like LinkedIn, join relevant clubs or organizations related to your field of interest, and seek opportunities to meet individuals who can offer guidance or potential job prospects in the future.

Thank you for your question. It is good for you to start thinking your future career at this age. You still have plenty of time to think and explore.
Below are my suggestions :
1. Think about what you have interest, e.g. your hobbies, favorite subjects, etc. and identify what you have interest
E.g. If you like music, would you like to be a musician, musical artist, singer, music composer, music producer, etc.
If you have interest in maths, would you like to be an accountant, engineer, banker, financial analyst, maths teacher, etc.
2. Find out more on these careers and determine what you have interest
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counsellor, your parents, etc.
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue
5. Explore the entry criteria on relevant subject in colleges. Work hard to meet the criteria.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
May Almighty God bless you!
