With a degree in Computer Software Development, will a criminal record get in the way of finding work? What about freelance work?

I have had a checkered past and as a result, it has been really hard to find a job. I have always been interested in computers especially software development. I am hoping that with a degree I can find work. Will my criminal background pose a threat? #felon-finding-work

Yes, a problematic history will get in your way for a ordinary job position. However, do not take is as a total negative view. It only means that you need to work harder than other job candidates. In addition, I would think you have more story to tell during the interview than other computer nerds.
