What type of certification, education, experience, does an ethical hacker need to be hired, and have a good salary Do they have to have a specific type of skill, and if so, what is it??

I'm in 6th grade, and am doing a "Career Choice", and I would love to explore ethical hacking. It seems like a well-paying job, and comes with lots of strings that would be helpful in life. If there's anything that ya'll have to say, I would be absolutely overjoyed if you could help with my research on this subject.

To do ethical hacking, you'll first need to gain deep understanding about 1 or more areas in computing. Only then, by knowing how a particular system works in depth, you might be able to break it. Therefore, to get started my suggestion is that you look back into your past and find computer-related topics that you were very interested in. A typical topic is gaming: I spent lots of time in my childhood playing video/computer games, and even tried to create my own. That led me to learning how to create a website, share files securely, host a webserver, etc. Over time I became a software developer, but could have chosen cybersecurity too. By investing in your interest of choice, you'll end up knowing how something in that field is made, and you become capable of identifying bugs in the software, some of which can be security vulnerabilities.

There is no class or certification that will replace the weight of being so interested in a topic that you obsesses over it and decide to learn how to build stuff yourself. Nowadays AI tools help a lot, but to control the AI effectively you still need to know how to do it yourself.

Will recommends the following next steps:

Identify computer-related topic of interest
Study topic in depth and learn its inner workings
Create something complex of your own (come up with your own idea)
Learn the basics of ethical hacking (especially the "ethical" part). Courses and certifications help here. CTFs to develop skills. Study security reports and blog posts in your field of interest. Try to reproduce them
Just try to break stuff, ethically. Bug bounty programs and open source software are good targets.
