Why is there not a prevalence of women in sports management?
I am a high school senior going into college to study sports management as my major. As the world begins to bring more attention to female sports; the growth in the sports management field isn't rising alongside. I want to be a part of this field no matter what, and would love to have someone who inspires me who is like me.

Hey Lillian! You’re asking such an important question, and the fact that you're thinking about this already shows you’re meant to make an impact. The lack of women in sports management often comes from long-standing industry biases and limited representation, not from lack of talent or passion. But that’s starting to change, especially with more attention on women’s sports and the push for diversity in leadership. By stepping into this field, you’re helping pave the way for others and becoming the kind of role model you wish you had. Stay confident, stay curious, and know that your presence in this space matters and it will inspire others who come after you. Good luck!

Such a great question! Women's sports have 100% come SUCH a long way since when I was little.... I am so happy that we live in a world now where women's sports are televised, followed and watched... as when I was growing up we never got to see women play sports in the capacity that we do today. I am glad that my girls can grow up in a world where they know that anything is possible and women can do anything that men can. But sadly, there is still a long way to go in catching up with the gender gap in the world of sports, and that is why you don't see as many trainers who are women. But that's the great part, because that is where YOU come in! You pursue your dream no matter what the others who do it "look" like, and START the change. And you can find tons of strong women to support you along the way, even if they are not directly in the sports management field, they can still mentor you and help you navigate a world that has been historically male dominated. The change has to happen at some point and with people like you leading the charge you will slowly begin to see more women in the field! Good luck in all you do and go out there and be a trailblazer!!
