What would you say you look for most in a nursing new hire?

Im a senior in high school, with an acceptance at a college and I want to look forward at my career and hone the skills that most would like to see in a new hire. I am apart of the sports medicine program at my high school also.

Martin’s Answer

Personality, enthusiasm, and a bit of fear. Fear comes from not having experience and knowing when to ask for help.

Christine’s Answer

A good personality, ability to handle stressful situations, willingness to work in a team environment, and willingness to learn. I think those are essential skills for anyone to hire a nurse. Of course someone who has also successfully passed their licensure exam as well. Nursing can be demanding both physically and mentally so if you're able to handle challenges and keep your cool and keep your focus along with self-awareness these are essential skills to have that will serve you well.
