Jazhel’s Answer

Hi Sadie,

From my experience, earning a bachelor’s degree was what jumpstarted my career in higher education. The journey was longer and tougher than I expected, but it was worth it. I made the best of my personal circumstances, and that helped me make the choices I did.

The only advice I can give you is to find a path that feels right for you.

What would you like to be doing in five years? Where do you see yourself in five years?

All the best to you!

Brian’s Answer

Hey Sadie!

In my experience, I wanted to make sure I used my technical experience in conjunction with degree to make sure when I become an older construction worker that I could easier transition into a engineering/Maintenace job. Good news! I was able to take my 15 years and multiple licenses to transition into a nice comfy job where I get to use my brain more than I use my strenght. However, with the lack of the degree, even with my multiple licenses and technical training they put me at almost the bottom position. Everyone who go the higher positions (even the less experienced than me) got those positions thanks to their degrees that I am still working on 10 years later.

Point of the story, even if you take 1 class a year, keep improving yourself. Trust me, you rather take 10 years to get your next degree than trying to get a dream job and wanting to power rush your degree with stress and expensive costs.
