What are some things that should keep in mind when applying for consulting internships without relevant professional experience?
For context, I'm currently applying from a legal background.

Hey Victoria! It's important to keep these things in mind when applying for consulting.
1. Impact. No matter what the opportunity is (i.e. volunteering, school, previous work experience) it's really important to showcase the impact that you've made. Proving yourself to be an impact-driven individual is important for consulting companies. Don't just tell them what you did, but tell them how what you did made an impact!
2. Leadership. Having any kind of leadership experience on your application helps you stand apart. Show the moments where you took on a problem yourself, led a team of people, or help fix a situation.
3. Network. Make a LinkedIn account, find some people that work for the consulting companies you're applying to, and grab some time on their calendar! Conversations with them can help widen your perspective, as well as make you stand out as an individual seeking to expand their professional network.

Hello !
The reason for an internship is exactly that. To help you gain valuable in your chosen field or in a potentially chosen field of study that becomes your core interest and possibly a degree at a higher learning institution.
For example: If you were to intern at NBC or another television/media tract, they wouldn’t expect you to have any experience (I wouldn’t think). They would also want to train you to be a person who would be able to slide into a job or position based upon the way that they actually train and mold you.
Therefore, apply, apply, apply ! Suggestion: Get a smattering of ideas and run with what you think will make YOU happy. It’s all about you in the end.
