That's fantastic—congratulations on gearing up for this exciting new chapter! Embracing college life can be a thrilling adventure, and here are some tips that helped me and many others feel right at home:
Jump In Early: Dive into clubs, events, and campus activities. It’s a great way to meet people and find your tribe. Even if it's something new to you, joining a group can really make you feel like you belong.
Connect with Professors: Take the time to visit office hours or chat after class. Building these connections can make you feel more supported and engaged in your studies.
Stay Open and Curious: College is a melting pot of people and ideas. Embracing different backgrounds and experiences can lead to amazing friendships and personal growth.
Find Your Balance: Managing your time well is crucial. Make sure to schedule time for both studying and having fun. Striking this balance early can help you enjoy college life to the fullest and keep stress at bay.

Joining a small group or community early on can really make a difference. I’m so happy I joined a student association club. It helped me make friends who supported me through school and offered advice whenever I needed it.

Hey Abby,
First off, congrats on gearing up for college! It’s an exciting time, and I love the advice David and Chiquria shared — joining a small group early on really does make a difference.
I totally agree with them! A big part of making college feel like home is jumping into clubs, activities, or student groups that interest you. Even if you're shy at first, these groups can be a great way to meet people and find your people. I remember my first semester, I joined a club just because they had free pizza and drinks at their meetings (yes, priorities 😂). I ended up making some of my closest friends that way and I didnt only make learning fun but we made a learning group to help eachother.
Also, connecting with professors early on can be a really great game changer here. They’re not just grading machines — many are willing to offer support and advice if you reach out. Office hours or casual chats after class can help you feel more connected to the material and the school. I usually helped my professors during breaks which I could freely ask them questions and gain skills and advice as well. I had talk about life twisting it towards myself to grasp something, you know, trick unseen....hope they are not reading this...uhhum.
And last but not least, find your balance! College is about studying, but it's also about having fun. Don’t forget to take breaks, go to events, and enjoy the ride. Time management will be the greatest key here for you buddy dont let it escape.
Best of luck, and remember Abby, It’s okay to feel a little lost at first — we all go through it. But dive in, stay curious, and you’ll find your place. You’ve got this!
