Hi Betty,
There are different types of travel companions. Some might need credentials in e.g. nursing, child care, teaching, make-up etc. Some travel companions might be hired for language skills or local familiarity and connections. In all cases, you'll need organizational skills, familiarity how to make travel arrangements and great communication skills.
Some agencies:

I hope this helps! All the best to you!

Applying for a traveling companion usually depends on what you’re looking for. If you mean through an agency or program, many travel companies, senior services, and caregiving organizations offer companion services you can apply for directly on their websites or by phone. If you’re looking for more casual travel buddies, platforms like Meetup, Couchsurfing, or even Facebook travel groups allow you to connect with people interested in sharing trips. The key is to be clear about your needs (support, safety, or just companionship) and to use trusted platforms where people are verified.

Hi Betty,
I have never been or requested the help of a traveling companion. However, you will need to decide what type of traveling companion you would like to be.
Decide whether you want to be a companion for someone with a disability or medical needs, or for general travel, or as a helper for children. Then search for organizations that support people with those specific needs and offer companion roles.
You may need to meet some specific requirements. These often include being a minimum age, passing a background check, and potentially having specific skills or certifications. Some agencies will require you to attend training events to ensure that you understand the role.
If this is a formal position with an agency, you will likely need to fill out their application and undergo their screening process.
I hope that this will help to get you started.
Good luck in all that you do.
