Hi Leah,
The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a 4-5% job growth for dentists, which is about average. Keep in mind that job outlooks can change frequently. Health professionals will always be needed, but the economy plays a big role. You can't really base any career decisions on it. And nobody can tell you what YOUR job outlook might be (which is the only thing that really matters).
I hope this helps! All the best to you!

What keeps me busy everyday is cavities, broken teeth, and gum infection. The cause for these dental diseases is not going away anytime soon due to their not being cures for them on the horizon. In my opinion and experience, the job outlook is excellent for this career field. Best of luck to you.

Hey Leah,
There will never be a shortage of teeth. Whether you open a private practice or work for a non profit, one thing I can tell you there will never be a shortage of teeth. Specially at this day and age with new research showing how oral health affects our entire body.
Per Karin’s response you can see predicted growth of 5%. This alone should prove you will not have hard time finding work.
However as in any career choice, make sure this is something you will enjoy doing. Dentistry is rough on your back and neck. I have been a dental hygienist for 10 years and I can already feel aches and pains.
