Balancing school, athletics, and clubs

I am in a crew team, and will continue to row in college as well. Crew takes up a lot of time not already taken up by school. With that being said, what sort of clubs should I join in order to feel involved with my college, while still focusing on school and athletics? #extracirriculars

What are you interested in? You could join a club based on your major. I was pre-vet in college and joined the pre-vet club.

I would recommend not joining too many if you are already so busy with classes and crewing. It wouldn’t do to burn out so fast with overdoing your involvement.

Hi Christina! I'd encourage you to think about what "feeling involved with college" mean to you? Does that mean learning something new? Making new friends? Participating in an activity on a daily/weekly/monthly basis? Etc?

You may find that being on your college's crew team satisfies that feeling of involvement for you. If it doesn't, look for an activity that bridges that gap that crew doesn't.

I was a member of my college's varsity crew team. I got a strong sense of connection to my school, however, I missed my musical side, having grown up playing the violin. I ended up joining my school's orchestra for non-music majors - it was low involvement (practiced once a week, late at night) and made me happy to satisfy another side of me.
