How do I become successful in finding a stable career that can incorporate a mixture of writing and psychology?

I've always been interested in humanities and using my creativity. I love writing, psychology, music, baking, and art. I'm still struggling deciding on my major and how it'll be used for my future career.

Hi Chloe. Finding a stable career that combines writing and psychology is possible. First, you need to think about what aspect of psychology interests you most. Do you want to help people directly, like through counseling or therapy? Or do you enjoy learning about how people think, feel, and behave, and then sharing those ideas through writing? If you like the idea of helping others, majoring in psychology and later specializing in counseling or therapy could be a great path. But if you love expressing ideas and storytelling, you might consider majoring in communications, English, or journalism and adding psychology as a minor.

There are many creative jobs that naturally combine psychology and writing. For example, you could become a mental health writer, creating articles, blogs, or books about self-care and emotional well-being. You could explore art therapy or music therapy, where creativity helps people heal and express themselves. Another great option is marketing, advertising, or user experience writing, where understanding people's motivations helps you create messages or designs that connect with them.

To build a stable and successful career, you should focus on getting real-world experience while you study. Try internships related to writing, media, or psychology. Volunteer to write for a student magazine, help with social media for a local nonprofit, or join clubs that let you use your creative talents. Every experience you gain will help you understand what kind of work you enjoy most and what skills you're best at. Good luck.
