Hi Elizabeth,
I think medical imaging is an excellent career field! The education for medical imaging is relatively short (associates or bachelors), i.e. not too expensive while offering pretty good earning potential.
There is variety and potential for career development and growth. You can work as radiologic technologist, MRI technologist, CT technologist, diagnostic medical sonographer, or nuclear medicine technologist. You can further specialize on cardiovascular, breast, or interventional imaging and earn additional certifications. Further education could lead into positions in imaging informatics or management.
Demand in medical imaging is high and increasing. People will always get sick, and as people live longer demand for medical services will increase.
In medical imaging you will mostly find regular working hours that are compatible with life outside the hospital.
I hope this helps! All the best to you!
