I want to enjoy my college experience! What are the best ways to get involved, make friends, and find a roommate?
I am a high school senior who is in the process of picking a college and finding a roommate. Ive heard from so many people "time goes by too fast, and you need to enjoy the little things". I'm worried that I am not going to be able to enjoy the college experience because I'm going to be too focused on my academics. I feel like this happened to me in high school. I focus way too much on my grades and I feel like I didn't "enjoy" highschool. The time has gone by too fast! I'm also nervous about finding a roommate as well!

Getting involved in college life is one of the best ways to make friends and have fun. Joining clubs, attending welcome-week events, or participating in sports, service groups, or cultural organizations will connect you with people who share your interests. Even simple everyday places, like dining halls, lounges, or study groups, can be where you meet some of your closest friends. College friendships often happen naturally because everyone is new and open to meeting people.
Finding a roommate can feel stressful, but it doesn't have to be. You don't need the "perfect" roommate, just someone who has a similar lifestyle. You don't need to be best friends with your roommate right away, just make sure your routines and habits are compatible. Most people adjust and get along even if they don't start as best friends.
The most important thing to remember is that college is different from high school. You'll have more control over your time, more independence, and more chances to meet people who share your interests. Wishing you all the best.
